How we met

Romaine and I met
at our friend's
baby's blessing.
I was setting up the decor when he arrived way too early. Now, I know what you’re thinking… love at first sight? Nope! I actually wanted him to leave. But he was stubborn, so I put him to work helping me set up.
It wasn’t until I changed into my outfit that he paused, took a step back, and asked, “Do you believe in fate?” Well, you know how the story ends… Years later, we became best friends and decided to spend the rest of our lives together.
Who made the first move?
“
Romaine did. He asked me, “Do you believe in fate?” — but with his Jamaican accent, I wasn’t sure if he said fate or faith. Either way… I guess I do.
The Proposal
How did Romaine Propose?
“
I planned the perfect getaway to a stunning Spanish mountain retreat overlooking a vineyard.
We spent the day hiking and enjoying a relaxed picnic by a serene river—Leona completely in her own world.
That evening, as she fussed over which bag to take to dinner, I knew exactly where I was headed—quietly panicking about the timing but confident in the plan. At the top of the mountain, everything fell into place. In that perfect moment, I popped the question… and she said, of course!
What was your most memorable date?
We had planned to go to a fancy restaurant, but the wait was way too long. So instead, we wandered the streets and stumbled on this tiny, slightly shabby burger joint. Turns out—they served the best burger we’d ever had. Later that evening, as we kept exploring, we came across another fancy restaurant with this giant sea lion display in the window. We stood there, just looking up at it, and said: "One day, if we’re still together, let’s come back here for dinner."
Fast forward five years… we kept that promise. We returned to that very restaurant—and celebrated our anniversary in style.
